This workshop centers the cyclical aspects of living with chronic stuff, by building capacity to be with subtlety in our bodies and noticing emotional and thought response patterns to our flares. Why? Growing our ability to detect nuance, engages our sense of agency and increases access to a sense of possibility–even within cycles that may feel binding. By slowing down with the early signals that our bodies send when a flare is approaching, we can gently turn toward the emotion, thought, and imagery that accompany, to gain insight. Participants can always tune into their experience via imagery or other channels, if turning toward sensation is overwhelming— —you’re not alone!

in this time of authoritarian strategy involving overlapping urgent demands on the collective level, my aim for this series is to gather together at the hearth of body-based and trauma-informed skills so that we may:
be together in orienting to a shared reality (though our experiences are different)
interrupt patterns that are not serving our ability to show up for each other and ourselves
resist the regime by growing our bodies’ capacities to stay with the trouble fuckery, as personal & community collapse is what those in executive power are hoping for
expand resilience by accessing joy through grief and rage

MAY 19 Experiential Introduction to the Language of your Nervous System
in this workshop I share some things I’ve learned about the autonomic nervous system and how it communicates. we cover the basics of fight, flight, freeze, fawn and you’ll have opportunities to tune into the specificities of your own patterning. why? becoming aware - then intimate - with our patterns allows us to make choices informed by our embodied wisdom and build new patterns where old or inherited ones may no longer serve us best.
JUNE 23 Slowing Down with the Basics : Orienting, Tracking, Resourcing
in this workshop I introduce some foundational body-based practices that support nervous system regulation. as we explore, participants are invited to notice shifts in their sensation and emotion. alongside deepening awareness of your body’s communication patterns, we turn toward what resource means for you and how you might locate it at any moment. why? these skills help maximize our access to a sense of relative safety–which supports our ability to rest and respond to the world around us in value-aligned ways.
JULY 21 Navigating Overwhelm : Technologies for Returning to the Present
with so much happening within and around us, we can be easily pulled into a state of overwhelm without even realizing it. in this workshop we continue to nourish and befriend our inner witnesses. we notice the sensations in our bodies that accompany overwhelm, helping us to detect it before we’re submerged. we’ll review practices from past workshops and explore new ways of offering ourselves containment - an important component in settling overwhelm and returning to the present. why? these skills help maximize our access to a sense of relative safety and agency, supporting our ability to respond to the world around us in value-aligned ways.
OCT 20 Somatic Practice for Unstable Times
in this workshop we practice skills for navigating instability by leaning into the resource of agility. participants are gently guided through an embodied tour of their own experience, bringing attention to sensation and imagery, while inviting in the imaginal. why? by turning toward any discomfort that arises in overwhelming and unstable times, we support movement within ourselves – making space for more presence. with this, we are more able to respond to the world around us in value-aligned ways, expanding our access to a sense of futurity and possibility.
NOV 17 Somatic Resourcing for Organizers and Care Workers
many of us are in a stretch of the season where burnout is common and folks are stretched thin. the aim of this session is for you to emerge feeling a bit more supported and fortified for the work that you do -- the visible, invisible, paid and unpaid, alike. in this practice you will be guided through somatic exploration--locating and expanding your sense of inner resource. turning our attention to the wisdom of our bodies (communicated through sensation and imagery) and the supportive technology of our imaginations, we'll open ourselves to new / different possibilities of how we navigate building the world we're committed to.
